Birmingham Water Works Bill Pay

Birmingham Water Works has redesigned its bill to give customers a better understanding of their water and sewage charges in an effort to better serve our five-county service area.

Customers will notice the new bill design’s contemporary appearance as the first change. The bill has a more straightforward, easier to read layout in addition to the utility’s updated logo and darker color scheme. The new bill design includes new features in addition to aesthetic changes. The total payments received and total adjustments are now displayed in the billing summary section. The second page contains details about disconnection policies, how to calculate your bill, and convenient and simple payment options. The bill now includes a third page with additional billing information, such as itemized water charges and a distinction between water and sewer service. (Although Birmingham Water Works doesn’t offer sewer services, it does collect payments from a number of sewer providers in its service area, including Jefferson County. ) Last but not least, these upgrades allow the new bill to support multiple billing periods, which removes the confusion of receiving multiple bills at once.

How to Read Your Bill

The terms and characteristics of your water and sewer billing are explained in detail here.

How to Read Your Meter

A number similar to this one is displayed on your meter. Read the number from left to right. Black-background numbers are not included in the computation of your monthly water consumption.

To determine your usage, deduct the previous meter reading from the current reading (found on your statement). The outcomes will show how much water was used in CCFs, or one hundred cubic feet. Multiply the amount by 748 to convert this usage to gallons.
