TALLAHASSEE, Fla — Florida GovRick Scott will approve an increase in pay for state employees.
A bill containing $183 million will be signed by Scott on Wednesday, and it will be used to provide workers with pay raises of various sizes.
Rank-and-file employees who currently make $40,000 or less annually will receive a pay raise of $1,400, and those making more than $40,000 annually will receive a pay raise of $1,000.Additionally, the law allows for 5% pay increases for state law enforcement personnel and 10% pay increases for judges, state attorneys, and public defenders.
If newly hired public employees don’t make a decision within nine months of starting their jobs, they will be placed in an investment plan similar to a 401(k). Currently those employees are placed in a traditional pension plan
