What does Ocoee stand for?
In the Cherokee language, “ocoee” denotes “apricot vine,” which is what we now refer to as the passion flower. The city logo is inspired by this flower. The Florida legislature recognized the Town of Ocoee as a municipality in 1923, and the Town of Ocoee became the City of Ocoee in May 1925.
