Spare change can have a big impact on your fellow members’ educational opportunities.
Sometimes the most significant contributions can be made in our communities with the smallest actions, like giving 50 cents. The quality of life in your communities can be improved even though it may not seem like much can be done with a little spare change when combined with the generosity of your fellow Pearl River Valley Electric members.
We started the Round Up for Education program in 2012. Participating members’ bills are rounded to the nearest dollar each month. We take the difference and put it into a fund that will assist any Pearl River Valley Electric customer who wants to enroll in a Mississippi community college for themselves, their spouse, children, or other dependents.
Less than 2 cents are added to the roundup on average each day, or 50 cents per month. We can raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually and assist hundreds of students if every member contributes their round-up amount.
Who We Are
Pearl River Valley Electric was established in 1938 after 228 rural residents of the Columbia area expressed a desire for electric service. Over 51,000 meters are currently served by Pearl River Valley Electric, which also provides service to homes, churches, small businesses, shopping centers, schools, and industrial facilities. In twelve counties, our electric distribution systems serve over 6,100 miles of line.
Our association is distinct from other electric utilities because it is a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative. We are here to serve you. This cooperative approach to business is what we promise to do for you.
