Financial Counseling
To assist you in navigating the financial aspects of receiving care at Stanford Health Care, financial counseling is available. Financial counselors, who are a part of the Patient Access Services team, are committed to being a resource for you and your family by:
- Explaining your insurance coverage and benefits
- Estimating your financial responsibility for services not covered by insurance
- Finding ways you might be able to pay for your care if you don’t have enough money or health insurance
- assisting you to locate and enroll in government programs when available
- addressing inquiries or worries about your financial assistance and insurance coverage
From Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m., dial 650-498-2900 and choose option 2, then option 5. m. – 5:00 p. m. Financial advisors work to alleviate as much stress as possible from your financial worries so you can concentrate on what’s most important—your health.
We are happy to let you know that through a secure web portal, we will be using a new payment platform called Recipient Select to let you select how you would like to receive your patient refund. Credit card payments will have their original form of payment refunded. Refunds will be given through a safe Bank of America website portal called Recipient Select if the payment was made in another way or the card is no longer valid.
Patients can choose the preferred method for receiving the refund. When appropriate, Stanford Health Care will send the patient an email with a link to the portal and instructions on how to set up a profile and choose their preferred payment method.
Patients have five days from the date of the email to finish making their choice. A pre-paid Visa credit card will be issued and mailed to the patient if the transaction is not finished within 5 days.
