The Stamford Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the city’s sewer system. Bills for sewer usage are sent out twice a year, in April and October, and are based on water usage for the six-month period from November through April.

The water company provides the WPCA with actual water usage for all properties in Stamford. The charge is based on the “winter usage” to avoid charging for heavier summer uses such as watering your lawn and garden, washing your car, or filling your pool, which do not impact the treatment system.

Payment for sewer usage charges can be made via credit card, check, or money order. Credit card payments can be made over the phone by calling the customer service office at (203) 977-5832.
